General Dentistry

Quality dentistry for the whole family

At the office of Dr. AJ Gollofon DDS, we are proud to be able to provide exceptional dentistry for generations of Seattle families. Whether your newest addition to the family needs their first dental cleaning, your teen needs a mouth guard for sports season, or grandma needs a new set of dentures, we’ve got you covered.

Family Dentistry

We all know that healthy habits are formed at a very early age, and oral hygiene is no exception. That’s why we love providing children’s dentistry for Seattle families. We understand that coming to the dentist isn’t exactly on the top of everyone’s list of fun things to do, and it can be a frightening experience for kids, even for some adults. That’s why we use kid-friendly terminology, and our team is gentle and compassionate to ensure a dental experience that’s anything but scary.

Oral Hygiene

If you’ve ever been to the dentist (we hope you have), we know you’ve heard it time and time again “Are you brushing regularly? What about flossing?” While it may seem like we’re beating a dead horse, we only stress oral hygiene so much because it really is the foundation of oral health. Poor oral hygiene is the primary cause of ALL dental health problems.

We want to help our patients take the small steps necessary today to prevent larger complications down the road. A solid oral home care routine and regular visits with Dr. AJ Gollofon and our exceptional hygiene team will ensure your mouth is as healthy as possible. Our hygiene team is impressively thorough, yet surprisingly gentle to give you what may be one of the best teeth cleanings you’ve ever had. Visit our Oral Hygiene page for more information about how to keep your teeth clean and healthy.

Emergency Dentistry

If you or someone you know has experienced a traumatic oral injury and are in need of immediate dental work, we have emergency appointments available for your convenience. If you experience bleeding from the nose or ears, loss of memory or consciousness, dizziness, disorientation, or severe head or ear ache, you should go to the emergency room immediately.

If you’ve had a tooth knocked out and can retrieve the tooth, you have the best chance of saving it if you see your Seattle dentist within one hour of the incident. Pick the tooth up by the crown (the part that is usually exposed) and rinse with water. Do not scrub or remove tissue fragments. If it is possible to put the tooth back into its place, it is best to do so, and make sure it is facing the right way. If not, the next best option to save the tooth is to put it in milk, or water with a pinch of salt if milk is not available. You should call us immediately at (206) 363-7200 for your best chance of saving your smile.

Mouth Guards

Many of our Seattle patients don’t realize they can get custom mouth guards from their Seattle dentist at Dr. AJ Gollofon’s office. Mouth guards can serve many purposes in protecting your teeth. They can protect you from traumatic injury during sporting activities, like concussions, and are even required in joining many sports teams. You can buy generic mouth guards from sporting stores, but a custom mouth guard from your Seattle dentist is really the best way to protect yourself and get the best fit and comfort level.

Mouth guards worn during sleep, or night guards, can offer unmatched protection against teeth grinding and clenching, or bruxism that can cause chronic headaches and TMJ issues. An astonishing percentage of the population grinds their teeth and is completely unaware. If you experience frequent headaches, migraines, or pain of the face, jaw, or neck, you may benefit from a custom mouth guard.
